Volunteer Program – Morocco

Join our marine conservation project based in northern Morocco. Help us establish Morocco’s first organization dedicated to the research, conservation, and responsible observation of cetaceans of the Gibraltars’ Straight and and Alborean Sea. Volunteers participate directly in field activities alongside marine biologists, contributing to our research and conservation programmes.
What Volunteers Will Do
BOAT SURVEYS – 3 DAYS / WEEK
LAND SURVEY – 1 DAY / WEEK
- Searching for dolphins and whales
- Recording behaviorial and environmental conditions
- Learning cetacean observation techniques
- Photo-identification of cetaceans
- Assisting with data collection/entry and mapping
CONSERVATION
& COMMUNITY OUTREACH
- Beach cleanups
- Environmental awareness actions (with schools/locals)
- Helping local NGOs rescuing street animals
- Assisting with feeding and care activities for rescued animals
SPECIES YOU MAY ENCOUNTER
- Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus)
- Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba)
- Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis)
- Long-finned pilot whales (Globicephalus melas)
- Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus)
- Finwhales (Balaenoptera physalus)
- Iberian orcas (Orcinus orca)
