CABO VERDE: A KEY CETACEAN HABITAT IN THE EASTERN ATLANTIC
Located in the tropical Atlantic, Cabo Verde is one of the most important breeding grounds for humpback whales in the Eastern Atlantic. Surrounded by deep ocean waters and shaped by volcanic islands, the archipelago, every winter, the animals arrive to give birth and care for their calves in the warm, sheltered waters around Boa Vista.
For us, Cabo Verde is the perfect place to combine responsible whale watching, scientific research, and education. Alongside humpback whales, visitors may also encounter bottlenose, Atlantic spotted dolphins, spinner dolphins, pantropical spotted dolphins, rough-toothed dolphins, … as well as several offshore whale species.
Every trip is an opportunity to collect valuable scientific data through photo-identification and behavioural observations, while inspiring people to better understand and protect marine life.
